Formerly Of Counsel at the Anolik Law Group, and former President of Alexander Anolik, A PLC,  Alexander Anolik, a pioneering attorney and deeply devoted family man, passed away on July 31, 2026 at the age of 87, leaving behind a legacy marked by generosity, humor, resilience, zest for adventure, love of family and love of Israel.

Al built a distinguished legal career grounded in fairness, sharp insight and an unwavering commitment to justice. Widely regarded as the preeminent expert in travel law, he authored dozens of books on the subject, taught at numerous universities and spoke at hundreds of conferences over the course of his career. As both an attorney and a judge pro tem, he earned the respect of colleagues and the community alike for his thoughtful judgment and professionalism.

A San Francisco native, he embraced life with enthusiasm from the start. He had a passion for travel, classic cars and hot rods, was always eager to explore new places and cultures, and he found joy in the thrill and discipline of polo. He was often the center of any room, captivating those around him with his storytelling, contagious laughter and unmistakable zest for life.

Al was deeply connected to his Judaism and to Israel, drawing strength, identity and purpose from his heritage. He was known for his generous and giving spirit, always ready to support the Jewish community. One of his most proud achievements was helping to secure space for a Jewish cemetery in Marin, back in the ‘80s. His commitment to service extended beyond the courtroom: he served in the Army, and for many years led the San Francisco Sheriff’s Mounted Posse as its Captain, combining his love of horsemanship with a lifelong dedication to community and civic duty.

Thirteen years ago, Al was involved in a horseback riding accident that resulted in significant injuries. Yet, in the face of profound challenges, he remained steadfastly himself, retaining his sense of humor, his deep love for his family, and his instinct to give to others.

At the center of Al’s world was his family, whom he loved deeply and unconditionally. He is survived by his beloved wife, Yami, whose partnership and companionship were a cornerstone of his life. He was a proud and loving father to his three children, Sharon (Orr), Daniel (Lyssa), and Adam, and a devoted grandfather to Ari, Aviv, and Arielle, who brought him immense joy and pride.

Al will be remembered not only for his professional achievements, but for his warmth, resilience, generosity, and the deep connections he forged. His legacy lives on in the lives of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be greatly missed.
